{"id":1517,"date":"2014-04-13T19:22:39","date_gmt":"2014-04-13T22:22:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.trepa.org\/?p=1517"},"modified":"2014-04-13T19:22:39","modified_gmt":"2014-04-13T22:22:39","slug":"trepa-seventh-annual-freecycle-successful","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.trepa.org\/?p=1517","title":{"rendered":"TREPA Seventh Annual Freecycle Successful"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The annual TREPA Freecycle at Beacon Hall happened April 12, and we certainly hope to repeat the project next year.\u00a0 Besides keeping usable electronic equipment out of dumpsites, it saves manufacturing energy and gets good equipment into the hands of people who need it, at no cost.<\/p>\n<p>This year, for the first time, we had no old computer monitors.<\/p>\n<p>I want to share a couple thoughts with the participating public:<\/p>\n<p>(1)\u00a0\u00a0 <b>If you have something to donate, please bring it in before 10:00 A.M.\u00a0 <\/b>If you bring it near closing time, chances are that nobody will pick it up, and it may, unfortunately, end up in recycling.\u00a0 I try to rescue the best residual bits for next year\u2019s event, but sometimes, there is more than I can store!<\/p>\n<p>(2)\u00a0\u00a0 <b>We would appreciate it if donors could keep the various parts of your unit<\/b> (for instance, electrical connections, discs, and main unit) <b>together, <\/b>so that the recipient can receive a working piece of equipment, rather than pieces of one. \u00a0\u00a0If you get pieces and not the whole assembly, guess what:\u00a0 The pieces won\u2019t work!<\/p>\n<p>(3)\u00a0\u00a0 If you have picked up something you cannot use and it may be in working order bring it back next year, rather than throwing it out.<\/p>\n<p>Many thanks to Mil Nickerson, Carol and Gerald Jacquard, Roy Fudge, Virginia Smith, and Barrie MacGregor their help!<\/p>\n<p>One final appeal to the donating public:\u00a0 If you replace \u00a0electronic equipment during the year, and your old stuff is in working condition, <b>don\u2019t throw it out!\u00a0 <\/b>If the Salvation Army or another charitable group doesn\u2019t want it, we do.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1518\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trepa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/April12Freecycle.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1518\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1518\" alt=\"Clinets collecting goods, under Carol's guidance\" src=\"https:\/\/www.trepa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/April12Freecycle-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.trepa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/April12Freecycle-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.trepa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/April12Freecycle-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.trepa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/April12Freecycle.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1518\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Clinets collecting goods, under Carol&#8217;s guidance<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The annual TREPA Freecycle at Beacon Hall happened April 12, and we certainly hope to repeat the project next year.\u00a0 Besides keeping usable electronic equipment out of dumpsites, it saves manufacturing energy and gets good equipment into the hands of &hellip;
