{"id":403,"date":"2011-03-28T10:36:19","date_gmt":"2011-03-28T13:36:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.trepa.org\/?p=403"},"modified":"2011-03-28T10:36:19","modified_gmt":"2011-03-28T13:36:19","slug":"coastaloceans-mou-signed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.trepa.org\/?p=403","title":{"rendered":"Coastal\/Oceans MOU signed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A memorandum of understanding between the province and the government of Canada will improve management and protection of Nova Scotia&#8217;s coastal and ocean resources.<br \/>\nFisheries and Aquaculture Minister Sterling Belliveau and federal Minister of Fisheries and Oceans Gail Shea signed the Canada-Nova Scotia Integrated Coastal and Ocean Management Memorandum of Understanding to stress the need for collaboration.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;The province and government of Canada have been working side by side for many years to maintain healthy coasts and oceans,&#8221; said Mr. Belliveau. &#8220;As our coastal areas face challenges and pressures, we need to work even more closely to ensure a co-ordinated and strategic approach.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nThis agreement will set the stage for federal and provincial agencies to work together more effectively on ocean and coastal management issues.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\nThe agreement will focus on: implementing Nova Scotia&#8217;s future coastal strategy; integrating coastal and oceans management and planning; managing and sharing information relevant to coastal management and planning; and developing a network to advance coastal research in Nova Scotia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You may view it here:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.trepa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/canada-ns-mou-eng.pdf\">canada-ns-mou-eng<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A memorandum of understanding between the province and the government of Canada will improve management and protection of Nova Scotia&#8217;s coastal and ocean resources.
