AN INTRODUCTION TO TREPA

John Sollows will discuss the history of TREPA, the role TREPA plays in environmental protection, current projects, past successes and how you can get involved. All ages are welcome. Meet at the ski cabin.

Look forward to a pleasant stroll into our beautiful park to a program hosted by our Friends of Ellenwood group. There will be coffee, tea and light refreshments available.

Meeting on proposed eel farm/processing in Yarmouth

As many of you may know, there has been a proposal made for a land based eel farm and processing plant on the Chebogue Road in Yarmouth, NS. At this point, TREPA neither supports nor opposes such a facility. Our concerns, like those of others in our community, are its impacts on the environment, particularly the manner in which wastes and odours are controlled.

There is a meeting at the Acadia School, Highway 3, at 7 pm on Monday, November 12th, where the concept will be discussed and, hopefully, more specific information will be available to the public.

TREPA members at TD Tree Day

In spite of the overcast and rain, an enthusiastic group of people gathered at Argyle Street to begin tree planting on the Broad Brook Greenway Trail on Sunday, September 30th. Several TREPA members were among the tree planters putting in Red Maples which are tolerant of wet conditions and have beautiful fall colour.

The event was well signed.
